9-17-24   THOUGHTS

I am late this morning.  My alarm didn’t go off.  I apologize.  
Our reading is short, simple and most powerful.  God wants us to be like HIM!  That you and I could be Holy doesn’t make sense does it?  We know us!  This is us trying with all our might and God making up the difference.  Romans 4 talks about God imputing righteousness to us. 1John 1:7 “but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.”  Keeps on cleansing is the idea.  1Pet 2:9 “But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR [God’s] OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;”

1Pet 1:13-16    Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.  14  As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, 15  but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; 16  because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY."

My Prayer:
Father, help us be holy as You desire.  We must have Your help, Lord.  Please give us an overwhelming desire and intention to be holy.  Your love fills all as we view this huge idea.  It is bigger than we are.  Take our hands and lead us, O God.  Help us always to raise the bar in our quest to be closer to You!       In Jesus’  name       Amen.
